This is a sculpture that I made by pouring molten aluminium over a drum of broken pieces of ice. I then mounted the aluminium casting onto a forged steel base.
I really like this piece as everyone sees different forms and images in the flowing aluminium almost like when you were a child looking at the clouds.
This is the artist statement that went with the piece in the exhibition -
This sculpture was born of a clash between Fire & Ice. It captures that moment in time, where the raging hot metal is imprisoned by the ice. In its final moments the ice melts, leaving behind the cold metal form, the only evidence of their violent embrace.
